7 characteristics of Hoi An that seduce foreign travelers

Hoi An is located near the sea, hidden in ancient architecture and has unique cuisine.

Audrey is a blogger who wrote a book about That Backpacker, who visited Hoi An about three years ago and immediately fell in love with the land. She recounted that the peaceful pace of life in Hoi An, a place drawn from fairy tales, made her want to stay longer than she intended, despite her long-planned exploration of North Vietnam. Here are seven things of Hoi An make Audrey distracted.

1. Beaches

Hoi An is probably not famous by the sea, but it owns two beautiful beaches. If you do not mind cycling for a few kilometers, you will probably have a trip to An Bang beach (3 km north of Hoi An center) or Cua Dai beach (located 5 km west of Hoi An).

2. Old architectural charm

In Audrey's eyes, Hoi An is very nice even when you visit the suburbs. Each of the curved roofs curved up on the brightly painted walls that hide hundreds of years of historical stories. Strolling through the old town of Hoi An, visitors are like in the middle of a film, in the echoes of countless lyrical music playing.

3. Tailored clothing

Hoi An is known as the center of tailor-made clothes. There are hundreds of tailoring shops all over the street, which means that visitors are free to order clothes, shoes or bags. Audrey suggests that visitors spend time looking at the store and choosing the right material before ordering. If you find a suit that fit the eye, visitors can buy on-site or the mechanic will take measurements to tailor the customer.

4. Fresh life

In the last few days in Hoi An, Audrey and her friend Sam rode around to a green farmhouse in the suburbs. Here, they can take part in cooking classes, rice paper making and gardening. Not only that, Audrey and Sam also have the opportunity to enjoy local dishes made entirely from vegetables in the garden.

5. Lively markets

Trading activities are bustling.

Markets in the old town are always busy buyers who sell from small shops to street vendors, curious tourists wading in the middle of the lane. If you get up early, you can go to the market in the morning when small businesses sell roadside goods. Everyone wears hats which make Audrey feel excited about the market scene soon.

6. Various cuisine

With many specialties, Hoi An has a unique culinary background. Audrey suggests Cao Lau is the first guests to try. The dish is made from traditional pasta noodles, served with shrimp, pork, herbs, bean sprouts and broth. She revealed that the water of the high floor in particular, the chef only use water from a well of the Cham people on the outskirts of the city.

Cake wrap is another dish loved by Audrey, it's another name is white rose. The cake is made from rice flour, skillfully folded over the shrimp paste inside. According to Audrey, the esoteric formula was only held by one family in the old town, and three generations of children were making bread and delivering bread to Hoi An.

8. Night activities

When the sun descends, Hoi An is not submerged in quiet space. Folk dances and folk dances are performed at the riverside in the evening. On special holidays, people also have activities to drop lights on the Thu Bon River to pray for good luck. Not only that, visitors also have the opportunity to shop at the night market to choose a souvenir such as silk fabric or several beaded necklace.
