The garden house is located on the north bank of the Huong River, in the west of the citadel, in the Kim Long area, formerly the capital of the Nguyen lords (now address 58 Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, Xuan Hoa, Huong Long, Hue, not far from Thien Mu Pagoda).

The land of Kim Long has many garden houses to create a system of special garden houses. From the middle of the 17th century, Lord Nguyen Phuc Lan chose this place as the capital of Cochinchina, and this land became prosperous, next to the magnificent palace, the disciples of the prince, princess and the upper class. According to records, to the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), King Gia Long built a new business in the area of Phu Xuan village next to it. Kim Long area is no less position, the more suitable to build the property of the royal family and court officials. An Hien garden house as well as many other gardeners in this place was born in that context.

According to family documents, before 1895, the first owner was the 18th princess of King Duc Duc, when the palace was the princess. Later, due to the circumstances of each owner, and the historical background, the house has changed owners many times, princes, mandarins and elders in Hue.

The oldest holder is Mrs. Dao Thi Xuan Yen, inherited the house from 1936 to 1997 when her husband died. She is the wife of Tuan Vu Nguyen Dinh Chi, then he is holding the Ha Tinh Weekly. At that time, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Dinh Chi were well-educated and prestigious people in society. An Hien is the home of many intellectuals and people are wearing the guests.

The interior space of the house is clearly divided according to functional use. The middle is the altar, with the principle of decoration: "money Buddha posthumus" (worshiping the Buddha front, worshiping the ancestors behind).

The two rooms are the reception area on the principle of "male boys" (male on the left, female on the right), two similar houses, the residence and activities of men (left) and women (party right), in the concept of feudalism.
