About 2km from central Nha Trang, Ponagar Tower is a thousand-year-old Cham temple located on a small hill. From the hill looking down, this is the mouth of the river Cai with beautiful scenery attracting many tourists and local people.

At the foot of Thap Ba is a bridge as a straight line connecting the two sides, far from the Tran Phu bridge with a soft bend.



According to many documents, the name "Po Nagar Tower" is the whole cluster of architectural works, but actually it is the name of the largest tower about 23 meters high. This is a tower complex with unique architecture of Cham people, built and renovated over many periods (from the 8th - 13th centuries).


Follow the path to the first tower you will see a flat land of more than 200m2, there are 10 large brick towers over 5m high in four rows on a wide brick.





Next to the top is a land of about 500m2. There are four stupas, two shrines and a rest house. Two large towers, one 18m high, one 22.48m high, built of brick. The main tower is built in 4 floors, each floor has a false door, statue and stone animals.



The largest tower worshiping the goddess Ponagar (Cham language meaning Country Mother), on the pedestal of the lotus stone, back resting on a large stone plate shaped leaves. The statue is 260cm high. The lines on the statue, strong, vibrant. This is a masterpiece of Cham Pa sculpture, a harmonious combination of circular and sculpture techniques.



Other worshipers include Shiva (one of the three supreme deities of Hinduism), Sanhaka, Ganeca (legendary son of Shiva). Next to the main tower about 20 meters south is another small and less sculptured ornament, about 12 meters high. The south tower is also a smaller tower. Inside the tower there is no altar but a linga.



The Thap Ba Festival takes place from March 21st to March 23rd every year. With the Nha Trang people, the tower is a sacred place, fishermen often come here begging for peace in the storm season.
