A monkey kingdom in the heart of Nha Trang city

About 18km north of Nha Trang, Hon Lao Island is also called Monkey Island as a pearl floating in the beautiful Nha Phu Bay.

The island is called Monkey Island because it is the natural habitat of more than 1200 monkeys. With the care of humans, monkeys here are becoming more friendly with tourists and turning the island into a unique tourist attractions in Nha Trang.

At Monkey Island, visitors will be easy to see the beautiful picture of the life of monkeys like monkey carrying monkeys, monkeys scrambled for "beautiful people", the monkey kid jokingly ...Nguyen Van Nguyen, a staff member of Long Phu Tourism Corporation, who has been treating monkeys on the island since 1988, said: "To me the monkeys are like friends." Mr. Nguyen said, before the means of travel to the island shortage, the care of monkeys encountered many difficulties, so far thanks to the boat to the island convenient, especially visitors to visit more and more monkeys on more friendly island.

"The work on the island has been many years, with monkeys on the island so much. I do not know how many times the monkeys teasing as they are from the tree down, shook his hat and ran, or stole the food of the guests "- Mr. Nguyen confided.

Bui Van Truong, who has worked on the island for 11 years, said the most impressive image is that in each late afternoon, when the tide is withdrawn, the passengers return to the mainland, the monkeys in the sea. Flip the corals to catch the crabs and snails for food. "Looking at that image, our brothers likened monkeys to peasants to catch snails," he said.

It is known that Monkey Island is not only home to monkeys, but monkeys here are also selected and trained to perform circus like monkeys playing basketball, cycling, swimming ... for tourists.
