In Ho Chi Minh City, black star is a popular urban tree species, grown in many central routes, parks to create shade, air filter. The roads such as Pasteur, Mac Dinh Chi, Dien Bien Phu, Pham Ngoc Thanh, Ho Con Rua, park April 30 ... are covered by the tall black star trees soared by French people.



Black Star tree (Scientific name Hopea Odorata) is native to India and is introduced and grown in many tropical countries. Plants usually flowers in March 2-3 and fruit in April-July.




The fruit has two wings, leaves are long and hairy, very young, light green, when the old brown to brown.
