Two days in Saigon with a foreign tourist

Within 48 hours you can completely explore Saigon in a very interesting way.

New Zealander Brett Atkinson shared his explorations of Saigon in his lavish 48h but very interesting on the Lonely Planet site.

Day 1


Morning

Take your first morning to Saigon at Ben Thanh Market. Go to the market and enjoy breakfast with a bowl of hot noodle, delicious and do not forget to add a glass of ice milk attached. From Ben Thanh Market then for move to Museum of Fine Arts (No. 97 Pho Duc Chinh). This is a collection of many artifacts of Ho Chi Minh City such as Saigon pottery, Southern pottery or the rare collection of rare art. At the same time, the artifacts of resistance, the theme of revolutionary war, the history of the museum ... are all things that make tourists curious.

After visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, visit the Bitexco Finance Tower less than 1 km away. On the 49th floor of the building, you will have a chance to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and to capture the impressive pictures from this summit. Then you can visit Plantrip Cha Tea House and have a variety of tea or cough. For lunch, you can have meal at Secret Garden Restaurant (158 Pasteur, District 1). The restaurant is located on the top floor of a house in the alley with quiet, romantic countryside style with impressive Vietnamese cuisine. You can have tea after lunch.

Afternoon

The Saigon Central Post Office with a mix of European and Asian architecture is impressive.

After enjoying lunch, take a break and walk along Le Duan Street to visit Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Central Post Office - both have become the symbol of Saigon. Continue to the 30/4 park road to the Presidential Palace, you will have the opportunity to explore a historic monument with many interesting stories.


Evening

When the city lights up, the feeling of being on a motorcycle is sure to be great. You can drive through District 2 to enjoy grilled seafood and some cool beer. Saigon is a city of nightlife so you don't worry about the fun at this time. Going to a live music bar or sipping a cocktail, watching the city from M Bar (No. 1 Dong Khoi, Ben Nghe, District 1) on the 8th floor of the Majestic Hotel will be a great choice for you and your evening.

Day 2

Morning

Start Monday morning with a breakfast at Cho Lon in District 5 - one of the oldest markets in the city, then explore the market with special Chinese characters. Or you can also buy souvenirs with Vietnamese character, for your friends in Cho Lon. You should visit Thien Hau Pagoda, nearby Phuoc An Restaurant to find out about architecture, Buddhist culture here.

Thien Hau Lady Pagoda has thousands of years old and is bearing bold ancient architecture of the United States.

For lunchn, go back to District 1 and enjoy the charming Vietnamese food at Propaganda Bistro (21 Han Thuyen).

Afternoon

In the afternoon of Monday in Saigon, take time to visit the War Remnants Museum (28 Vo Van Tan, District 3). This is a place to learn more about the heroic history of the nation as well as witness the remains of the war from 1955 to 1957. Late afternoon you can visit the zoo (5 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Ben Nghe, District 1) and discover the zoo ranked eighth in the world.

Evening

Last night in Saigon you do not miss the opportunity to enjoy the beer with flavors of Da Lat coffee or lemon rind, rinse ... at Pasteur Street Brewing Company (144 Pasteur, District 1). Enjoy the American style barbecue at the bar located in Vo Van Kiet, District 1 for your dinner. Finally, choose a bar, club with exciting atmosphere to finish the trip this memorable 48 hours. You can visit The Observatory (Le Lai - Ton That Tung crossroads, District 1) or Cargo Bar in District 4 are quite exciting places for a memorable weekend.
