2. A lot of people find similarities between Phu Quoc of the Philippines and Phuket of Thailand.

3. There are 22 large small islands in the region but Phu Quoc Island is the largest with an area of 567km2.

4. Phu Quoc Island was the base of French missionary Pigneau de Behaine from the years 1760 – 80s.

5. Phu Quoc is home to the best fish sauce in Vietnam that is still traditionally produced is soaked in large wooden boxes.

6. The island is also known as the world's famous pearl production. The mass production of pearls is the highest in the Philippines.
