The old year is coming again and the new year is coming, guys! Through the new year, surely every one of us wishes for the next 365 days to be lucky and happy right? According to the long tradition of Vietnamese people, we will go to the temple together at the beginning of the year to gather fortune and pray for the new year.

So lets walk around 8 extremely famous and sacred temples in Saigon to pray together for a good and convenient new year.

1. BEAUTIFUL NGOC HOANG PAGODA

Ngoc Hoang Pagoda is also known as Phuoc Hai Tu or Da Kao Pagoda (because the temple is located in Da Kao ward!) Located at Mai Thi Luu Street, District 1 always. This temple was built a long time ago, around the beginning of the 20th century! The pagoda is famous as a bridge, especially love, so the beginning of the year or the full moon here is very crowded. If you want to be sincere, you can wish for whatever you want.

Especially sure everyone knows this is the temple that President Barack Obama visited in May 2016.

Ngoc Hoang Pagoda is built according to Chinese temple style with brilliant motifs. The pagoda is built with bricks, the roof is covered with yin and yang tiles, the roof is decorated, the angle of the roof is made of many colored ceramic statues. In addition, the temple has many works of art such as paintings of worship, statues of worshipers, incense ...

Ngoc Hoang Pagoda is famous for its long time to pray for children. Therefore, the temple has a separate space to worship Kim Hoa Thanh Mau, especially 12 Mu Ba - Mother Gods. This is also the place where couples come to pray for their children.

The temple grounds also include a turtle-feeding lake and a dove yard. If you visit the temple, remember to bring some food for the pigeons

From the beginning of the year to after the full moon in January is the most crowded time, especially on the day of the Jade Emperor (January 9) and the day of the Genius the next day.

2. BUU LONG PAGODAS

Buu Long Pagoda is located in District 9, located a bit far from the city center but is a pagoda with a unique architecture different from other temples in the city. The pagoda is as beautiful as the temples in Thailand and Cambodia, making beautiful pictures. At first glance, Buu Long Pagoda can be seen as a Thai temple in the heart of Saigon.

@nhattuyentranthuy

Buu Long Pagoda is striking with Thai architecture with these exquisite golden stupas being sculpted.

In particular, the temple also makes you surprised with the Gotama Cetiya stupa, the largest scale in Vietnam - over 2,000m wide, 70m high. In front of the tower is a semicircular lake with a turquoise color as a highlight to help the pagoda be more splendid.

@bekipao

Another special thing is that this temple when you visit, you can't light incense anywhere. You just need to pray in your mind.

Located on a hill, the atmosphere here is always cool all year round, combined with the spacious campus, glossy green trees make me feel here when you come here.

At the beginning of the year, going to pray here is really the right choice right?

Address: 81 Nguyen Xien, Long Binh Ward, District 9

3. ONG PAGODA (GENTLEMEN PAGODA)

Ong pagoda is also known as Quan De temple or Nghia An Hoi. The place is located in the heart of the old District 5. As one of the embodiments of the Chinese pagoda in District 5, the pagoda is the place to worship Quan Cong - one of those characters from the Three Kingdoms period.

His temple is famous for its sacred prayers. There are many strange stories that happened but no one could explain them. Perhaps because of that, the number of visitors coming here, many business people doing business or having health problems. Sometimes, there are students like us who come to pray for exams too!

@unfancied

In addition to the sacred stories, the pagoda is also a temple with beautiful architecture, from the gate to the dome, there are unique thick patterns. The pagoda has a lot of copper inlaid, shining a golden light.

From the electric hall to the campus, there are hundreds of big incense sticks in the shape of a very beautiful red and fragrant, it takes about a week before these incense sticks are completely burned.

Another special feature of Ong temple is that there is a wall hung with wishes to be visited in Chinese characters written and hung by the masters here. If you come here remember to put your wish on this wall

Address: 678 Nguyen Trai, Ward 11, District 5.

4. PHAP HOA PAGODA

Phap Hoa Pagoda is a quite famous temple located on Le Van Sy Street, right at Le Van Sy Bridge. This temple was built in the early 20th century, also one of the oldest and sacred temples in Saigon.

@luongtrongthanh

The road to the temple is full of green leaves, the romantic orchids and aquariums create an extremely peaceful and comfortable space.

A special feature is that on the days such as the full moon or the Buddha's Party ceremony, Phap Hoa Pagoda organizes beautiful flower lanterns. On these days, other people visiting the pagoda are crowded, then there are those who stand on both sides of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa streets to stop to watch the flowers and sometimes turn off the road.

@pm_quan

This is one of the few pagodas with flower releasing activities regularly on public holidays. For me, the evening is the most beautiful pagoda because it is lit by an extremely shimmering decoration system

Address: 220A Le Van Sy, Ward 14, District 3.

5. HOANG PHAP PAGODA

Hoang Phap Pagoda is sure you all know right? Hoang Phap Pagoda is located in Hoc Mon district, although it is located in a suburban district of the city but this is a temple that is always visited by many people.

@ neihmeid.official

Hoang Phap Pagoda has a large and spacious campus with lots of high-gloss trees all year round, ideal for students and students to go on picnics and camping.

@ ngominhduc2912195

Did anyone of us hear about Hoang Phap's Summer Retreat? This is one of the few temples that has a retreat for Buddhists as well as our students! The retreat takes 7 days and everyone attending will not be able to use any technology device, a whole week of pure time for themselves and useful things for the community as well. What a rewarding retreat, right?

Not only that, every Tet to spring, Hoang Phap Pagoda is wearing a new coat, the pagoda is beautifully decorated so visitors can visit and take souvenir photos.

On major holidays of the year such as Vu Lan, August full moon or Great Buddha festival, Hoang France Pagoda always organizes programs for you to attend.

Address: Tan Hiep Commune, Hoc Mon Town, Ho Chi Minh City.

6. VINH NGHIEM PAGODA

Those who often walk across Nam Ki Khoi Nghia Street will surely know this temple. It is Vinh Nghiem Pagoda.

@ jason.phann

In the middle of the pagoda yard is a big big sounding statue. From the pagoda yard, you can admire the curved roof tile and the 7-storey stupa. On the walls of each floor, there are sculptures of exquisite Buddha images.

People who visit the temple often bring some lotus flowers to offer to the Buddha to pray for peace to come to their families. In addition, the temple also has a vegetarian restaurant that serves the days of the week. From time to time, the full-moon day changed to a safe meal, but it was too much to cleanse the body and mind.

Address: 339 Nam Ki Khoi Nghia, Ward 7, District 3.

7. INDIAN LADY PAGODA

Ba An Pagoda or Ba An Temple are common names for Mariamman Pagoda, a temple built by Indians in the early 20th century and still preserved today.

@snexjack

This is one of the few Indian-style pagodas in Vietnam that you guys. According to legend, Mariamman (Mother Mari) is a goddess associated with fertility and favorable winds in South India. Mariamman is often the image of a beautiful young woman with a red-faced face with a red outfit, with many hands that represent a lot of strength but sometimes only two or four hands. She is often sculpted in a sitting or standing posture, a hand holding a trident, a hand holding a cup of rice

With a unique architecture that brings the breath of Buddhist roots, Ba An pagoda is not only Vietnamese but also Indians who come to pray for their families' happiness, wealth, health and good marriage.

The temple is located right in the heart of the town - 45 Truong Dinh, District 1, so it is always crowded with visitors. Inside the temple, there are 18 statues of 18 gods on the three walls around the temple, they are all incarnations of Shiva - the god of creation and destruction.

There are difficult sacred stories to explain when leaning on the forehead on the cliff at the temple praying all the way, as I wish.

Address: 45 Truong Dinh, Ben Thanh Ward, District 1.

8. ONG BON PAGODA (TWIN TEMPLE)

Photo: Internet

Ong Bon Pagoda is a Phu Kien pagoda in Saigon - Cho Lon area. Ong Bon Pagoda is one of the longest Chinese temples in Saigon.

@vietnamwonders

Ong Bon Pagoda is a unique architecture, combining wood, stone and brick sculpture, such as stone arches, large wooden pillars, with columns up to 7m high, with pillars on the bases. carved stone ...

Photo: Internet

Looking from the outside of Ong Bon pagoda, there is a highlight in the street with curving roofs that are stacked on top of each other. Ong Bon's curved roofs are quite unique compared to many other temples in Saigon as well as the whole country.

On the full moon or the feast day, Ong Bon Pagoda also organizes both lion dance and singing performances for those who visit the temple! We are not difficult to encounter Chinese temples in Saigon but Ong Bon Pagoda has turned into a very unique feature that other temples may not have.
