Typical French architecture monuments in Hue
Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee has announced 27 typical French architectural monuments to have a conservation orientation.
The 27 typical French architectural works in Hue include 11 state monuments, such as Hue University, National Literature School, National High School, Hai Ba Trung High School, Hue Museum of Culture, Diem Phung Thi, Le Loi Primary School, A & B Hue College, Hue Industrial College, Festival Center, Tu Do Stadium.
The 16 monuments owned by organizations include: Hue Railway Station, Saigon Morin Hotel, Hue Festival Restaurant, La Residence Hue Hotel & Spa, Le Domaine de Cocodo Hotel, Van Nien Waterworks, Redemptorist Church Phu Cam Orthodox parish, Phu Cam Parish Church, Hue Archdiocese, Sacred Heart Monastery, Hue Major Seminary, Immaculate Conception, Hue Carmel Monastery Franciscan Church, Chapel (St. Paul's).
Hue Railway Station (photo) is located in Doi Ward, Hue City, built by the French in 1908, formerly known as the Sui Gun Station. Over 100 years, Hue station retains the original architecture.
Monument to the martyrs or also known as Bia Quoc Hoc is located near the south bank of the Perfume River, in front of the National School. This work was built in 1920 to commemorate the French soldiers and Vietnamese in Central Vietnam who fought and died in the First World War.
The High School was founded on October 23, 1896. This is one of the first high schools in Vietnam. At present, Quoc Hoc School is one of three high quality secondary schools in Vietnam (together with Le Hong Phong School in Ho Chi Minh City, Chu Van An School in Hanoi).
Hue Cultural Museum consists of two blocks of French architecture located on a land of nearly 6,000 m2 located on the Huong River. Previously, these two blocks are the headquarters of Hue City People's Committee.
Do Phung Thi exhibition is a French two-storey house located near the Truong Tien bridge on the banks of the Perfume River. Previously this house was used as Festival Center.
Phu Cam Cathedral is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Hue, located on Phuoc Que Hill (Phuoc Vinh Ward, Hue City). This is one of the largest, most famous and oldest churches in Hue. The church was built in the modern architecture, designed by architect Ngo Viet Thu.
Hai Ba Trung High School was established on July 15, 1917 with the name Dong Khanh School. Over 100 years, this school still retains the old French architecture.
The Saigon - Morin Hue Hotel was established in 1901 by a French businessman named Bogarde who built and put into operation. Over the past 100 years, the hotel has been owned by many merchants and government agencies, including the period of Hue University and Hue University.
Besides 27 typical French architectural works, Thua Thien Hue province has dozens of other French architectural works, such as the Headquarters of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, the headquarters of the People's Committee of Phu Hoa Ward.
